How Green Hydrogen Could End The Fossil Fuel Era | Vaitea Cowan | TED
As climate change accelerates, finding clean alternatives to fossil fuels is more urgent than ever. Social entrepreneur Vaitea Cowan believes green hydrogen is the answer. Watch as she shares her team's work mass producing electrolyzers -- devices that separate water into its molecular components: hydrogen and oxygen -- and shows how they could help make green, carbon-free fuel affordable and accessible for everyone. "This is how we end the fossil fuel era," Cowan says.

Hydrogen technologies at Bosch | PEM electrolysis and SOFC system
Hydrogen is a genuine alternative to fossil fuels. Numerous opportunities for storage and reconversion of renewable energies make hydrogen a driver of the energy transition. Bosch offers technologies for the entire value chain of the hydrogen economy, starting right at the beginning.
The Bosch PEM electrolysis stack – or, in the future, the Smart Electrolysis Module, which will incorporate the relevant electronics – forms the heart of an electrolyzer system, in which water and electricity from renewable energy sources are used to produce green hydrogen efficiently.
With hydrogen, we can store and transport renewable energy and subsequently utilize it in energy-intensive industrial processes, in mobility applications and the production of e-fuels or convert it back into electricity and h...

What Is Green Hydrogen And Will It Power The Future?
Hydrogen is a clean-burning molecule, meaning that it can help to decarbonize a range of sectors that have proved hard to clean up in the past. But today, most hydrogen is produced from CO2-emitting fossil fuels. Hydrogen produced from renewable electricity, known as green hydrogen, could be the solution to cutting our carbon footprint. But first, it must overcome a number of challenges.

With hydrogen, we can store and transport renewable energy and subsequently utilize it in energy-intensive industrial processes, in mobility applications and the production of e-fuels or convert it back into electricity and heat right where it is needed.
This is where the SOFC, our stationary fuel cell system comes into play. The SOFC system can already run on natural gas to produce heat and electricity today. In the future, it will be able to run on 100 percent green hydrogen, and therefore supplies energy precisely where it is needed and with no CO2 emissions.
Our innovative and fully networked technologies, PEM electrolysis and SOFC, are already laying the foundations today for tomorrow’s green hydrogen economy.
